FLOOD DAMAGE DATA RECOVERY
Zero Alpha data recovery has decades of experience recovering data from flood affected hard drives, servers and media. We recovered hundreds of drives during the 2011 Brisbane floods and now that Queensland and New South Wales are experiencing more extreme weather conditions we have already been inundated by businesses and homes who have flood damaged drives.Â
Water and electronics don't mix. Water has 2 damaging components. The first problem is corrosion. Water can be corrosive to most metals. Corrosion is a natural process that occurs when metals react with oxygen and form metal oxides. The rate of corrosion depends on many factors including the water's pH, electrical conductivity, oxygen concentration, temperature and duration that your drive is covered in water.
The second problem and most destructive is Ion-rich water. This will create conductive paths between electrical components which are not supposed to be. The voltage difference will cause a current to flow, creating short circuits or near short circuits. The electricity can now follow the path of least resistance. With water damaged drives the electricity can now travel in new paths and directions that the printed circuit board was not designed to do. Hard drives that go under water have a risk of filling up the internal mechanical parts also.Â
What to do with water damaged drives?
1: Turn off and unplug your media. This will prevent electrical damage.
2: Open and clean the flooded water. Remove the plastic shells so that the internal drive can be cleaned and dried. Use isopropyl alcohol to clean. Use a hair dryer on very low heat mode to dry, otherwise use a towel and air dry.
The longer your media is left wet the harder it will be to recover data.

Data Recovery Advice
We recommend in all cases of data loss to leave your drive turned off. Remove the outer casing and clean it dry. Sometimes data loss can be distressing. You can call our super friendly hotline for advice on 1300 001 211. We will be able to provide you with reassuring advice on what to do next. The most important advice is not to panic. Hard drives are complicated and highly delicate devices, so leave it turned off, clean and dry.
Avoid unqualified friends, family members or internet suggestions. Most of the these people have good intentions to help you but their unqualified advice usually leads to risky experiments which risks making the problem worse.
Avoid internet apps, Windows checkdisk or Mac first aid disk check. These apps are not sophisticated enough to deal with faulty drives and can cause data rearrangement that can risk permanent data loss or make a data recovery job more expensive than it needed to be. Data recovery has the highest level of success when its left its in most original condition.
Beware of websites claiming to be experts. They use fake "Stock" photos and promote overconfident success rates. These charlatans are known for outsourcing the drives to unknown locations, overcharging or attempt data recovery with no professional equipment.

Data Recovery Success Rate
Professional data recovery generally has a high success rate. The sooner we can clean and dry your device the higher the success rate will be. We use a high end ultra sonic cleaner with a special solution for electronics. Hard Drives do have a breather seal that can let water flood inside the drive if left too long. If water gets inside it will cause more damage.
Common Hard Drive Data Recovery
Hard Drive Data Recovery
We get data back from water damaged Hard Drives. We are already recovering data from recent extreme weather events.Â
Clean Room
We have decades of experience recovering data off all brands and types of hdd. We will use our special ultra sonic cleaner first. All parts will get carefully seperated so that all flooded water can be cleaned out. This includes microscopic holes underneath chips.
Server Flooded Data Recovery
