Sony Xperia Z2 Data Recovery
If your Sony Xperia Z2 is not turning on, there could be several reasons for this issue. You can try the following steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:
-
Check the battery: Ensure that your device has sufficient battery charge. Connect it to a charger and leave it for at least 15-20 minutes. If the battery is completely drained, it may take some time before the device displays any signs of life.
-
Hard reset: Sometimes, performing a hard reset can help if the phone is unresponsive. To do this, press and hold the power button and volume up button together for about 10-15 seconds. If the device vibrates or shows any signs of life during this process, release the buttons. This will force a restart.
-
Check the charger and cable: Make sure that you are using a working charger and cable. Try using a different charger and cable to see if your phone responds.
-
Check the power button: The power button might be stuck or not functioning correctly. Try pressing it multiple times to ensure it's not jammed.
-
Boot into safe mode: If the device seems to power on but gets stuck during the boot process, you can try booting into safe mode. To do this, press and hold the power button to bring up the power menu, then long-press the "Power off" option on the screen. You'll be prompted to reboot into safe mode.
-
Check for physical damage: Inspect your device for any physical damage, water damage, or loose components. Any visible damage may require professional repair.
-
Software issues: If your device has been experiencing software problems, you might need to perform a factory reset. Keep in mind that this will erase all data on your device, so make sure you have backups. To do a factory reset, you can try the following steps: a. Power off the device. b. Press and hold the volume up button. c. While holding the volume up button, press and hold the power button. d. Keep holding both buttons until you see the Sony logo or feel a vibration. e. Release the buttons, and your device should enter the Android recovery menu. f. Use the volume buttons to navigate to "Wipe data/factory reset" and use the power button to select it. g. Confirm the reset and wait for the process to complete.
If none of these steps work, it's possible that there is a more serious hardware issue with your Xperia Z2. In that case, you may need to contact Sony's customer support or visit a service center for professional assistance.
Data Recovery Case Log
This phone showed zero activity on power on. We sourced a working donor phone. The motherboard showed exactly the same symptoms inside the donor phone. The original battery had been changed but it was also in good working condition with 93% charge.
The phone would not boot with the PSU connected to the battery either.Â
All electronics did appear to be ok with some suspecious resistance numbers around the PM8841
With just the pcb only isolated from the phone: The working model shows signs of life and activity on the power meter, it also showed various stages of led lights including red, blue.
The patient phone did not show this sign of life and just draw a steady consistant 0.19a
Checking the phones thermal acitivity eventually did show the PM8841 to dissipate heat.
Replacing the power management ic did not resolve this issue. The same symptoms occured which is heating dissipating from the PM8841
