A client came in with their Seagate Expansion Portable 4Tb external hard drive. They had overwritten data they required and was hoping to retrieve it. In attempt to recover it themselves, they tried to use a software called Stellar which was unsuccessful. We do not recommend doing this as there is a risk of damaging the drive or writing over the recently deleted data. Due to its complexity and interference with the Stellar software, the drive was quoted with a $549 No Data No Pay. For this quote, you pay if the data recovery is successful and the files are to your liking.
Overwritten data recovery presents significant challenges. As new data is written, it replaces the original data, making it difficult to recover.
